Sulfur – General information. Sulfur is a chemical element with atomic number 16 and atomic mass 32.06. Sulfur consists of four isotopes 32 S, 33 S, 34 S and 36 S with a distribution of 95.018, 0.750, 4.215 and 0.017 %, respectively. Like oxygen, sulfur has two unpaired electrons in the outer electron layer.
